Monreal de Ariza is a Spanish municipality in the province of Zaragoza, autonomous community of Aragon. It has 207 inhabitants (INE 2008) and a density of 3.34 inhabitants / km².
The population of Monreal de Ariza is located southwest of the province of Zaragoza (138 km from the capital) on the banks of the River Jalon, it belongs to the Community of Calatayud. The territorial extension of the municipality is 61.65 km2, and is located 771 meters above sea level.

Monreal is the birthplace of Gonzalo Perez, secretary of Carlos I and father of Antonio Perez, secretary of Felipe II. It is said that the same Antonio Perez also born in the town, but no one knows for sure. In addition, he took refuge in Monreal when he fled from court after being convicted on charges of treason to the Crown and the murder of Juan de Escobedo, as he welcomed his Aragonese descent thanks to the Chief Justice of Aragon.
